[Konvas] Kinor 35mm question?

Dear Rita
Sorry I didn't answer your specific questions...
The camera of course runs at the same speed, mags at half speed. The
noise reduction is almost undetectable. About the only difference is
the 'scraping' sound as the film is pulled through the gate half the
distance of 4 perf. The magazines are already quiet so the short
answer is no appreciable sound reduction.
The motors are untouched so the lubrication of the hard steel on hard
steel bearings require the same lubrication as before. In fact ball/
roller bearings are noisier.
I am not a fan of the Konvas. I don't like the gate system where one
cannot see what is happening to the film. One has to put a lot of
trust into hidden parts and wait for the rushes... The 2 perf
conversion is also one of the most expensive as the entire movement
has to be remade. The Arri 2C is a much more friendly, reliable and
all round excellent machine and $2000 cheaper to convert. I get many
enquiries for converting Konvases but the price generally sorts out
the issue.
