Okay, after several days without power or telephone/internet I am back online.? Never underestimate what one large tree can do for a large area if it takes down the line, two transformers, two poles, a junction, and lands on one of those big telephone junction boxes.
LENSES
Don't look for half frame lenses-- there is NO reason to use them.? A standard full still frame 35mm lens works fine, and medium format lenses not only work fine they have much more back focal length than you need.? Too much coverage not a problem, but ALL of the half frame lenses are set for very, very short backfocal length, the best of which, the Olympus Pen SLR lenses, is still far too short for mopic.
Large format and medium format works fine-- backfocus is great.
SLR varies, and the Olympus OM series are easiest to convert because they put the f-stop ring up front, not on the back.
"Even the best" 35 SLR lenses are marginal for 35 mopic use in terms of resolution.? They have great contrast, maybe more than you want for movie use, and the choice of resolution and contrast is a tradeoff.? Most still photographers want contrast, so the lenses are designed for contrast--? mopic wants resolution, and has a problem with too much contrast, and the basic design is totally traded off as resolution being most desired.
If you want to convert STILL 35 lenses to mopic use look at the Leica M series lenses-- most of them can be set back to work with the Kinor or Arri 35BL series in PL mount.
A lot of you seem upset that Kinor was dirt cheap, you didn't buy it, and now it is still dirt cheap compared to the PL lenses-- and in many cases, still outperforms them.? Quit griping, buy them before people realize that a five hundred dollar LOMO is equal to a four thousand dollar German PL lens.
The prices will keep going up.
Most of the increase is not the RED users, it is conversion to PL for use with Arri.

It's easy to just buy an extension tube to get the lens mount, the problem
is that still lenses need to sit down in the mount so far that it's awkward
to use. I think mirror clearance would be an issue for my Kinor, this is why
I havn't done it.
