Outside of the fact I don't consider 720x1280/30p acceptable for HD-- and that is a heck of a lot better than 720x1280/24p--? look at the number of colors, compression, and exposure lattitude for the Nikon.? As for a great digital SLR?? Look at the Canon 50D? coming out in a month or so, the successor to the 10D cine version.? The 10D cine version was the first digital setup to allow you to match to film color curves, and center 80% contrast levels, although you could not nail the latitude-- and the 50D will be the first camera since that one to allow you do that.
I've been severely disappointed in the Nikon digital cameras, and in the Minolta cameras, but there are those who love them, and I will admit that I much prefer my 10D cine version to any of the Canons that followed-- maybe with the exception of the 5D for sensor size, maybe not.? Just please, please, please-- don't think you're going to challange real cameras with a DSLR in video mode.

You can?get the Nikon with a vibration reduction lens for $1,295.It's just the beginning but there will be more of this coming. Either way, you're getting a great DSLR and ex. 720/24fps capability with extremely low noise high ISO capability. Just think, you're wandering around? and see a ufo. That would make great HD stock footage....ok,ok...maybe not that extreme.?
