 IF (that's a big "if") you are copying digital files onto film, yes, you could do it, but it is still going to badly screw up when you least expect it.  DI transfer to film has glitches that defy understanding, but seem to attack worst when you are either on a deadline or running out of money.  You don't want shoot continuous frames on transfer because of accumulated timing issues, which is why all of the film recorders STOP for exposure and then advance.  They learned the hard way-- the film needs to TOTALLY stop, be exposed, then advanced, stopped, pin registered, and the next exposure made.

This is why I wound up with a pin registered Nikon F2 adapted to run a 400ft Mitchell magazine for that--  even the Arri was not really stable enough, sixty five pounds of sandbags aside.  We did an optical ninety degree turn and reduction compression to anamorphic, but it was perfect.  It just took forever.

If you are shooting "real" footage you have subject movement that
demands extreme shielding from any breeze of any kind, even between
frames, and that is even with plants.

Yes Oliver, you can put a micro switch on your gears to advance the frames on the HD monitor one by one  A good fast comput
er can handle 6 fps.

frame by frame in an Ultra Hight definition ... 
expose 1/6 or 1/4 of second is not a problem for me because i will use RDI 
emulsion (the same used in Arrilazer) ... 

so it is a continuous exposure in a SLOW frame rate 
.... and i syncronise each frame by a video frame using electric interface 
between shutter and computer ... 

Now i have f2 1/2 using 250 daylight .... so i can 
still use same emulsion just closing diaph ...and/or ND the lens ...for color 
calibration i will test difference between what i have now and difference with 
longer exposure ... 

No problem ... don t worry with exposure techniques 
... it is my life ... long exposure , shorts etc ....

You DO want time lapse-- not just slower frame rates. 

Why?

As the frame rate decreases the exposure time INCREASES by 
  huge amounts, you get blur, exposure bias and mismatch, color shift, and you 
  find yourself with one quarter of a second exposures requiring eighteen stops 
  of ND to have that blurry, miscolored image even close to properly 
  exposed.  

BTW, you may also want a K mod magazine-- one that 
  keeps the feed side slack so that the film flow is smooth.

I explain bad myself .. i don t want time lapse , 
  i just want low constant speed with 1000 feets mags on 2C camera so what i 
  explain before is the BEST way i think , i don t need another MOTOR than the 
  one 24fps i have !!!

    regular syncro 3fps ... BUT i have a good idea ....the ilumination come to 
    my head ! 

JUST with Gearing i can Speed down the SAME 
    motor 
.... it is NOT important how much is the FPS ... only the syncro 
    "regular speed" ....

so if i put a gear or Belt wheels i can speed 
    down absolutely regular to around 3 or 4 FPS ....

BINGO !!!! i don t need any other motor ! 

the baseplate of course i need it !

About ten years ago I had a 
      "time lapse staging solenoid" drive for the Arri 2b/2c camera, and it 
      worked like a charm, but would be cheaper to build than to buy.

Get 
      an Arri or Panavision brand "flat base adapter" for the camera.  
      That's made to put the camera motor beside the camera, not under it-- but 
   C2  then, instead of an Arri motor get an off the shelf "staging solenoid" 
      used on sorting conveyor belts, and set it up to pull a ratcheted drive 
      cog=2 0mounted where the motor would normally go.  This means you can 
      program the staging solenoid to trip at given intervals, anywhere from 
      twenty or so times a second down to once a month.  The difference is 
      that when it fires it fires fast, and you get a properly exposed, 
      advanced, and handled frame.

If you do get a motor from Clive, it 
      will work, but staging solenoids are interval set items, the motors are 
      not.

HI guys, for this moment , i own a Arri2C full overhaulhed with a 
      24FPS motor (24fps syncro only) and PL mount ...

i will receive my 1000 feet magazine for Arri2/Arri3 .... 

so i will 
have completed my system with own equipment for tape to 
      film ....and mount all in a metalic structure with marks for 

1:85, 16/9, and scope transfer 

BUT, i am really interested in a 3 to 4 FPS t ransfer from stills ... 
      (animation or frame by frame transfer ...) OK it take more time but will 
      make another option to tranfer video to film for my customers ) 

SO i need info about a TOBIN motor for low speeds ... frame by frame 
      1 fps 2fps 3 fps .... (like the timelapse ones ...) to mount it on my 
      Arri2C 

I need so a Inverse Baseplate to plate the motor in a side of the 
      camera and NOT below ... for more stability ...

so any Timelapser have info wich motor TOBIN or other will be good 
      for this system ???

Yes, that looks like a 16mm 
        "C" mount to me. but there seems to be a sealing ring missing over the 
        rear element, should'nt affect the image 
        though.

I have one identical to 
        above but with Arri standard mount. Mine has "minty" glass and has been 
        serviced.
