I'm no expert (others in here are), but that price seems a bit high to me
for a Russian lens that needs such a major overhaul. Then again lens prices
have shot up so much lately the market is hard to predict.

In comparison my widest PL mount non-fisheye is an 18mm f1.3
Panavision-rehoused Leitz. I only paid about $3800 for it and it is in absolutely pristine
like-brand-new mint condition... plus it was part of a matched primes set we
bought. Had we bought it individually it would have probably been even less,
since single lenses are typically less than those in a full matched set.

Ergo... I don't think the price was just ungodly highway-robbery high... but
I do think a comparable lens could be had for a perhaps a fair bit less.

I have not seen that particular lens before... it's hard to tell from the
picture exactly, but the face element sure does look surprisingly small to me
for such a wide/fast lens. The face of my 18mm by comparison is gigantic.
