Mustafa,
I'm not sure what software you'd be referring to. Compared to many other 
countries, we still shoot a lot of film here in the US, and that could 
be "the look" you are referring to.

I do know two things that I keep noticing. The one is on British 
Television shows (like one of my favorites: "Top Gear"), they do a LOT 
of vignetting (dark corners), and I'm pretty sure it's all on purpose. 
It almost looks like they are going for the same look as a pin hole 
camera...

The other thing I often see is a weird filter that the sides are out of 
focus - it kind of gives the appearance of depth of field. It's not a 
true depth of field though. You can probably do the same thing with the 
GIMP or CinePaint.

But you said lighting - the most important thing is proper lighting on 
set. Other than that, I'm not sure of what software can create any kinds 
of "lighting" looks. Maybe just some really good color correction?
