It could still be the main bearing.  Have you lubed it?  Even though
your camera frees up after the movement is removed, it coulds till be
the bearing.  The movement when properly working will create friction /
pressure back on that main bearing.   
When I took mine apart and lubed my bearing, the bearing didn't look
like it needed any lubrication.  But that was indeed the problem.
Smooth as silk after that.

I hope you sort it out.  If you are starting to get into that double
gear you are braver than me.  That's when I'd send it to a professional.
