Agreed, but there are several problems that are hard to overcome - for
starters, the Konvas wasn't made by just one factory (originally
anyway). See the konvas.org FAQ for more details:
http://konvas.org/faq/konvas-35mm-who-made-this-motion-picture-camera.html

I believe KMZ made the top-latch Konvas, while MosKINAP made the side
latch. And I'm not positive when it happened, but MosKINAP painted them
in Silver and then in Black. I don't think the KMZ factory ever painted
any of theirs black.

BTW: If anyone can expand on all of this historical info (Rafael,
Anders, Rita, ???), I'd not only be a very happy person, but I'd put it
in the FAQ.

Then there is the weird naming (and translation) issues:
Kohbac Abmonam (Konvas Automat?)
Kohbac 1KCP (Konvas 1KSR)
Kohbac 1KCP-1M (Konvas 1KSR-1M)
Kohbac 1KCP-2M (Konvas 1KSR-2M)

I attached my bad cyrillic russian to english letter translator I have
written up on my whiteboard at the house. I made it for me, but feel
free to use it to get some ideas on the lettering and naming schemes
they used...

Also, weren't a few Konvas printed in English (phonetic alphabet)? Maybe
some of those that were made for export, like the 7M and 8M (Todd, if
you're reading this thread, does your 7M have Phonetic or Cyrillic
writing on it?).

One more thing - I have a newer style Konvas 1M (made in 1988) labeled
both 'Konvas Automat' (well, Kohbac Abmonam - btw, the m's have a weird
line over them - not sure if that means its a different letter or not)
and 'Konvas 1KSR-1M' written on the same camera. Talk about confusing!
