Let me say it again--? even though the Kinor 35C and the SuperAmerica look alike, that was only an accidental ending-- the guts and design of the two bear no relationship, but when you put the box around each part set, it kind of looks the same.? Things happen, and I doubt the SuperAmerica design team planned to copy the look.
In the case of the lens mount-- both the Arri and Soviet A mount were copied and improved from the Eyemo mount, and that was admitted by designers.? The improvements were something they bragged about, and changes were made to make sure accidental changes did not kill cameras.? The Arri spaced it OUT so there was mirror clearance, the Soviet A design was a direct response to the problems with flex and "squaring" the Arri Standard showed, making it larger and stronger.?
Cute history.

Ole,?

They do look similar, but the Arri standard mount is 41mm diameter and
the OCT-18 is 47mm. And the flange focal distance is different. I
suspect that this is one area in which the Western design came first and
was copied in principle (but not in detail) by the Russians.?
?
Interesting, though, that our Israeli friend who was selling the Kinor
35 recently on ebay was right in claiming that the Kinor came before the
Superamerica.?
