>>aboslutely right about the trend towards female voices.

Yes indeedy...? the thing is, I've found that as hard as it is to find a great male voice, it's even harder to find a great female voice.

We have all the reels in from the top voice agencies (Danis Panaro & Nist, CESD, SBV, TGMS, William Morris, Sandi Schnarr, Buchwald, Atlas, etc.), and there's usually a "male" reel and and "female" reel.? The male reels will have maybe 25-30 audtions on it from different guys, with a wide variety of different sounds and voice types.? The female reels will have 25-30 auditions on it... AND THEY ALL SOUND EXACTLY ALIKE.? I assure you I am not being sexist here... at first I thought it was just me, but I have had numerous people listen to them and they all concur, even the women that have listened to them.

There are exceptions out there with great distinctive female voices, but for every Sally Kellerman or Linda Hunt or Christine Lahti there seem to be a couple zillion others that although they sound GOOD they don't sound distinctive in any way.

That makes casting very frustrating, sometimes.

>>Finally, T2, I can't believe Peter is 83.? His voice is a miracle.

I know... isn't he unbeliveable?? He still sounds exactly like when he was doing voiceover work 30-40 years ago.? Clean living, I guess.?? Unfortunately although his voice hasn't become elderly, the rest of him has... the old guy looks like the Cryptkeeper.? Still gets around though... has a home studio at his house in Naples Florida and also drives to Voxnow Studios a couple times a week for the high-dollar sessions.? He's also the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet, a WWII hero, and has a Congressional Medal of Honor.? And in a weird twist, I had been using him for years and THEN discovered that his now-late father-in-law and my mother had worked together in the same office 45 years ago.? Small world.

T2
