So solid steel is the way to go then?

I have had hollow aluminum tube, hollow steel tube, solid aluminum, and solid steel--? most people like the hollow steel tube, I prefer the solid steel rod, HATE the aluminum tubes
?

Just a real quick double-checking question here:?

Are you saying 100mm on the center of the Optical Axis or 100mm between
rod centers? Just checking. It's offset by 17.25mm to the right, correct?

the 100mm center to center distance is between the rod centers, and depending on which camera you use, how far offset it is in what direction changes.?

If the 100mm measurement is to the center of the rods, then the center
of the right rod to the center of the optical axis is 67.25mm and from
the center of the left rod to the center of the optical axis is 32.75mm,
correct (when looking from the back of the camera)?

Actually, that was
another reason I wound up with the T brackets for the Konvas--? the rod
units went with the 35BL and BL3, and the Kinors-- different cameras require different base sets, and sometimes you wind up with a bottom slider with two "side to side" holes for tripod mounts so you can balance it, since cameras may not be the same weight on both sides of the tripod socket-- and different heights, which means multiple blocks to adapt the upper slider to the camera.? It's like a tinker-toy set.? (Do they still sell those?)
?

> Aluminum rods and 60mm centering is miniDV crap.?
?

I agree. They may be okay to hold a mattebox and lens filters, but for
holding the heavier Cine lenses and a follow focus unit, etc., I'd
rather have something worthwhile. I'll be selling my 60mm centered rods,
they just don't work well for professional use...

I have more people tell me how wonderful 60mm is-- and how they have two sets, same manufacturer, some model, but nothing interchanges, not even the rods.

That tells me something.
?

> And BTW, the rod set connects to the lens yokes with the same?

> dovetails the T bar uses.?
?

Can you explain that one a little more? I read it a few times, but my
brain must be tired...?

The yoke-- the item that mounts onto or supports the lens-- is fitted to a spacer or bracket on the rods or T bar.? Those are dovetail fittings, and the same, so you can take a lens with matching yoke off of a rod set and slip it onto the T bar set, or vice versa-- and you may or may not need a spacer.? Arri yokes are identical to Kinor yokes, but Eclair is narrower and does not interchange.

Panavision yokes are rectangular, the narrow side fits Eclair, the wide side Arri/Kinor.

Thanks (again),?
