Sounds trickier.  You don't need registration pins or anything, but now 
you need a very precise sprocket system.  Remember that at 2K, a single 
pixel is only about 10um in size.  I don't know about your gear in 
particular, but I imagine that on it's way through a motion picture 
camera at 0.5m/s the perfs probably don't come out exactly the same size 
as they were when they went in :)

So, if you can design a sprocket roller system with a 0.01mm tolerance 
(transverse and linear), and can keep the film perfectly flat on the way 
through, and have a very precise motor control, then you'd be set!  The 
big bonus would be that the lighting would be extremely uniform over 
your whole frame.
