---Lies! Lies! Lies!

3-D movies were using polaroid glasses since the late 30s World's Fair movies. The red and green anaglyph glasses were used mostly for comic books and print materials. Movie wise they were used for the odd movie like 'The Mask' which only had sections in stereo.

And many old film camera systems were able to get close interoculars, usually with 50/50 mirrors,

This Norling camera was used on some RKO movies:

Cameron didn't use the camera in the utube piece for 'Avatar' but one with 50/50 mirrors.
