3-D movies were using polaroid glasses since the late 30s World's Fair
movies. And many old film camera systems were able to get close interoculars, usually
with 50/50 mirrors,
Leo and group,
Interesting... I just happen to be heading over to Steve Hine' place next week to see if my Kinor35H cameras will fit his 3D filming device http://www.hineslab.com/StereoCam.html. If we can make it work the rig features 3D video monitoring as well, that should be something to see.
Like Leo says, Hines' rig uses mirrors, I believe, to handle the interocular distance issues with bulky film cameras. I don't know much about 3D, but I see Steve has rigs for 35mm 8 perf and 15 perf 65mm. Those are some honking HUGE camera set ups! http://www.hineslab.com/BiClops3dRig.html
I'll be sure to relate my experiences here if we are successful in shooting some Kinor based 3D.
