[Konvas] lab accident

And, Dan, you are exactly describing why I bought a Jobo CPE-2, had trays that went up to absurd sizes, and didn't entrust things "well out of the ordinary" to the labs.? I have one lab horror story that almost comes off as a comedy--? remember when Polaroid came out with an E6 film in a packet that fit in the 500/545 holder??? I shot some tests, took it to the lab, talked to the lab manager, whom I knew well, and he wanted to see what it looked like, too.?? We knew it was Fuji stock, we just wanted to see what the six sheets would look like before I went back to play with it some more.? Three radically different lighting types and contrasts, and I knew how Ektachrome 100 handled each of those setups, where it fell short, where it shone. ? Phil handed them off to "his guys" and we hit the coffee pot.?
Not five minutes later "the guy" from in back came in with all of them opened--
"I checked them all and there's nothing on any of them."
Phil couldn't even talk.
The guy had just looked at them, thought "Polaroid," and then ripped them open.
In broad daylight.

Very interesting to read about the 1/2 stop overexposure practice being somewhat common. I'll give this a try next time.

Rick, HW,?you exactly described my poor 5x7 negatives. Having traveled?for hours by car and then backpacking my gear off-road to get the images, I was too stunned to do much else but stare at the clear 5x7 pieces of plastic in my hand. I had to reminded myself that a Buddhist?might congratulate me on such an occasion. Thankfully the photos weren't for a job, and the?experience?served to remind me?that the process of getting the shots is where?I find the greatest rewards. It's nice to have pretty pictures to look at, but it doesn't compare to actually having been there.
