[Konvas] Adam YOU NEED 2 TRIPOD

T2 hit a point I should have mentioned, and did not.

Make sure you know what coupling each part of your system has, and if they fit each other.?

At one point I had four heads--? an 80mm bowl, a 100mm bowl, a 120mm bowl, and a 150mm bowl.

Then, one day, out of the blue, a bronze gear head showed up-- in Mitchell Flat Base.

I strongly suspect that is why I have mostly paired manufacturers for heads and legs-- just to make sure they fit.

Adam is indeed right... I'm an Oconnor man.? Love the Oconnors, I have
several sets of sticks and heads.

?

A great bang-for-the-buck is if you can find a 50D? head/sticks
combo... occasionally seen on eBay for?real bargains?(the 50 head
crops up more often than the 50D head, but the 50D is, in my opinion, far
superior to the 50).? Even though this setup cost several thousand bucks
when new, you can sometimes see them going at auction for less than a grand...
sometimes a LOT less.

?

The 50D is a fairly big and beefy head... the complimentary sticks will
usually support a lot of weight, too.? The most I've even head on my sticks
included a Porta-Jib (which is one of the heavier jibs, and toungued out as far
as it will go), 35lbs of counterweight, a 50D head, the big BolexPro I used to
have (fairly Kinor-esque in size/weight), and teleprompter.? A pretty heavy
load, altogether.

?

One thing to note, in the 50/50D line Oconnor made two different sizes...
or rather but two different bases on the same heads.? Some are 100mm bowls,
but most of the ones I've seen have a fairly unusual-sized 120mm bowl.? I
really like the 120mm size (which is what two of the ones I have are), just note
that if you want to put them on sticks OTHER than the ones they are usually
paired with, you'll have an easier route if you choose the 100mm model.

?

And YES... hang on to the wooden sticks... they are very cool... I have a
couple of sets of older wooden sticks and haul them out now and then, usually
paired with an Oconnor or Miller head.
