Todd, that's no help at all! hehe. just kidding.
I wonder if using a balloon or something like a child's inflatable
rubber ball can help to figure the sizes out?
btw: I found a few more tripods for the growing list:
Berlebach: http://www.berlebach.de/
Ries: http://www.riestripod.com (not sure if these are any good for
MoPic though).
And speaking of wood (vs carbon-fibre/aluminum/etc) - take a look at
this very good argument for wood, as it is truly amazing:

(the site seems to work better with Internet Explorer). You can also
read the blog about it here:

Before I forget, if anyone has had any discussion list email issues
since yesterday morning (should not be related to what H.W. said he was
experiencing the other day), it's because the server was getting updated
and the updates were doing something screwy. Not exactly sure how/why,
but everything *should* be taken care of now. I think there was one
duplicate that made it thru this morning and that was my fault (I hit
the wrong button and accidentally let the duplicate thru).
