Dear Kelly

The ASA standard aperture for anamorphic is 21.9 X 18.59 (.864 X .
732) This gives you an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 which is stretched 2:1
giving a final ratio of 2.356:1

We take the gate out to 18.7 which helps a little with dirt etc along
the edge of the picture. Splicing is not an issue with the higher
image because the projector aperture is 21.28 X 17.78, masking the
final image.
