[Konvas] Kinor 35 Batteries

Hey Kelly,

A lot of good replies here, and the DeWalt solution seems to have been effective for many. I came up with something a little different.

It's a fair bit larger than the DeWalts, and you can make a pretty clean installation with it. I used the fanny pack ( http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3195 )  as a case and soldered a 4 pin xlr to the output cable. They also sell an easy to use fast charger that I have wired in with a Tamiya connector.

I also have a couple of bigger lead acid battery packs I made that aren't suitable for hand held use. I used a couple of 12v batteries wired in series for a 24v pack that I installed in a small boat battery housing. I got everything from Interstate Batteries, they have locations all over the country. I believe they have 6v sealed lead acid models too, so three of them in series will give you 18v. The lead-acid route is cheapest (I think my 24v packs were under $100 each), but they will also run the camera for a long time. I have clients running the camera, video assist and monitor for a day and a half on this set-up. The down side is they are heavy and take a while to charge. I installed the 4 pin xlr right in the case.

Hi Everyone,

Forgive me if this has been covered ad nauseam, but I’ve searched the threads and have only been able to glean bits and snatches of data.

I have two Kinor 35’s and am addressing these battery issues:

Has anyone successfully found or made a compact 16v NiCd rechargeable pack that would resemble a cinema pack—i.e. without using any duct tape or a Night Rider lunch box?

Is there a thread someone could direct me to as to how an XLR modification can be made on the camera for the power source?

Is it wise to exceed 15.6v (13 x 1.2v) to say possibly 16.8v (14 x 1.2v) ?

Again, sorry if this topic has been beat to death, but I just can’t seem to locate the appropriate threads.

Best,
Kelley Cross_______________________________________________
