AIDC 2009 GUEST SPEAKER MAZIAR BAHARI ARRESTED IN IRAN
Documentary filmmaker Maziar Bahari was arrested in Iran this week.
Bahari is the award winning filmmaker of celebrated works such as:
- 'And along came a Spider'
- 'The Fall of a Shah'
- 'Sistani, Object of Emulation'
- 'Children of Abu Ghraib'
- 'An Iranian Odyssey'
In March 2009, Bahari was a guest of the Australian International Documentary Conference and the Adelaide Film Festival.
Bahari, a Canadian citizen, is based in London and is expecting his first child in 6 months. He was in Iran making a documentary about the Iranian election, where he was detained without charge by Iranian authorities, but has not been heard from since.
AIDC would like to encourage people to not only spare their thoughts for Bahari and his family but to demand his release via any social network that you may be part of.
