I believe Olivier is doing it by using just the flash in a dark room.

Should be as follows:
Set the camera up. Set the photography (flash) lights up. Turn off the 
lights. Turn the mirror to the open position. Flash. Turn mirror to 
closed. Adjust lens. Turn mirror to open. Flash. Turn to closed. Adjust 
lens...
