[Konvas] Crystal motor--found prob

All,

Good morning. I've also noticed that the lids on these 400' mags are not
completely interchangeable, again a factor of them being hand-made to a
certain extent? Then, in one, the takeup spool was frozen in such a way that
it would only move counter-clockwise in a racheting fashion (moving the
entire assembly including the top/bottom loops) unlike ALL of the other 5
where I could adjust the takeup lead from the last sprocket without moving
the mechanism. It would not move clockwise at all. This was very frustrating
(and I ended up with screwy results when I ran the mag in the camera--more
on screwy stuff in a moment) until I grabbed a core and worked it lose. Now
that mag is one of the better performing ones in the lot.

Another mag was squeaky from the feed spool. A bit of white-lithium grease
on the tension spring stopped that. Oh, if you ever do unscrew the tension
set screw on this sprocket, be prepared for a surprise. I got the classic
"snakes in a can" with pieces flying all over the room! Had to unscrew
another one very slowly to make sure I had all the parts put back together
in the correct order. Wish I had a video of the look on my face...
priceless? Probably.

Konvas hijinks continue! Cue circus music... and, action!
Brandon

PS, I will try to post a video of what I mean by sideload today...
