Adam, H.W.--thanks for the troubleshooting advice. I will try the
non-sanding techniques first and see how things are working. After that I
will look into taking a little off here and there, but as you say I should
be cautious about throwing off the focus. I think this is a body problem as
so many different lenses show the same symptom. If it is a production run
problem, then both bodies look to be from a similar vintage; however the
third body is in that awful gray-green color so it may be from a different
production run. I have not tried that body yet. Perhaps a little lube like
grease or WD-40 would help the situation? Or make it worse, I don't know.

Of particular curiosity the Photon zoom has no "ears" and will still not
make a positive lock. I like the idea of taking off the focus tabs from the
other lenses and trying that first though.
