two things , 1:85 is smaller part of FULL FRAME
if with that you use a 1,33X adapter , you effectivelly will have a 2:4
frame format, but with a different Scope ratio NON conventional ....and a
smallest part of negative ...

IF your idea is going to 2K/4K scan , you will have to resqueeze again to
have the conventionnal 2X scope ratio ....

CONCLUSION , if you will go to film scan , with a KONVAS 2M ....you will
expense so money in film scan , than i Highlty transform or buy a 2 perf
camera !!!!

you will spend same money in 2K or 4K transfer !!!! so a 3.000 $
transformation in 2 perf , is LESS than all infrastructure you will manage
with a BAD and Un-standart ratio .....

I have used in a 16-9 HDV the 1,3 scope ratio and it work, but it was only
for ending in DIGITAL TV show .... and sensor was 1/2 inch , NOT 35mm film
frame ....

In 2 perfs, talking about cost quality relation , and talking with Joe
Violante in "technicolor" NY , we go to conclusion than it was not
significative difference making Tape to film from "2K scan" than in a "HDCAM
spitrit telecine" .... i have done tests and it is true !

Now i will test all the chain process in METROVISION in Argentina , the lab
i think i will use for the 3 features i have to Photography with my 2 perf
.... and we will all do HDCAM telecine , in Spirit .... SOMES good point :
A) NO scan 2K 4K needed ($$$$$$)
B) direct final result HD material from original negative isefull for HD
broadcast use MASTER ($$$$$)
C) you see direct what you get , full quality telecine .... (not have to
select takes in negative cutting ....)

Conclusion , if you think 2 perf for 35mm Blow up , Please make numbers and
you will see than best way is making direct HDCAM transfer ....
Technicolor give us 360$/Hour rate ..... Argentina is similar .....

After this you are ready for almost ALL process ....

Olivier .

my 2 "practicals" cents ....
