[Konvas] Star Trek w/flair...I mean flare

OK, I finally got to go see "Star Trek" last night.

I agree - also loved the flares. I'm not sure why, but in some
instances, the flares seemed to be giving you a message from the
filmmakers. Similar in ways to those documentaries on socially important
subjects saying "We're here with you." Hmmm. I can't really explain that
one better, so I'll stop trying now.

I also loved the story and background that allows pretty much everyone
(both old trekkies, newer trekkies, and non-fans alike) to enjoy this
new Star Trek without remorse. But I especially loved Simon Pegg (Shawn
of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Run Fatboy Run) as Scotty - not that I thought he
looked like the original Scotty, but I think his 'acting personality'
matches up nicely with James Doohan's (the older Scotty's).

I'm already looking forward to "Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Gene", where
Gene Roddenberry's ghost haunts JJ Abrams...

Cheers,
