I don't like compressor very much. I honestly don't think several of
Apple's conversions are the greatest. I'm not sure if they changed it or
not, but when exporting good looking DigiBeta to DVD (MPEG-2), Apple
would really screw up the look - always made it look like it was a
MiniDV origination (no matter what conversion tool you used). I wouldn't
doubt it if someone told me they were doing the same with high end HD to
Blu-Ray today (not that someone has told me, just wouldn't doubt it if
someone did).
As for the H.264, you can apparently buy hardware specifically for
H.264. I'll most likely end up doing that, just to things up...
