[Konvas] OCT-19 mount adapter on a Canon EOS 5D

 "Apparently" there was one Canon model or version that used "blocks of four or blocks of nine" sensors to create the pixel for the DV image, and one version that only used a center area-- and thus a difference in "how it looked" for a given focal length, one more 35mm movie, one more 16mm movie. 

Listening to a tech explain things will make your head hurt.

I think the whole sensor is being used, but in processing the info the
camera is throwing away (binning) a hell of a lot of lines to achieve that
video frame rate at that resolution.
