[Konvas] OCT18 and Canon 7D

Yes, resolution is not the problem. Contrast and lens coatings are.
Pretty much any cine lens, even if older, will resolve enough for 1080p. But resolution is not the only factor to affect the image. I think the OCT-18 as well as older OCT-19 lenses have a more dreamy and softer look than the latest Lomos or the Ekrans and that would most likely translate to the 7D as well.

Just back from a really bad session-- one note on this point.

Even at the maximum still resolution for the 7D it is lower than the resolution of the older Soviet glass, but has a "warm" feel like the older Cooke.

This helps a HUGE amount in 1080x1920/24p mastering on "other" DV bodies, and may be worth looking into.  The newer Rodenstock, Schneider, Zeiss, Cooke, Canon (cine), Angenieux-- they all have slightly different looks, but have value, too.

Interesting test.
It would be nice if there was a way to mount OCT-18 lenses on the 7D. It would
probably introduce an interesting retro look to the system. Although they are
not as sharp as the newer OCT-19 lenses I think the OCT-18 glass could still
beat shooting with Canons and Nikons.
