"I want the style/shape/ergonomics of a conventional film or video camera.... AND definitely a real viewfinder."

Well, actually a DSLR is much more like a film camera than a video camera is. The style/shape/ergonomics of a conventional film camera is pretty different to a conventional video camera. A film camera is in essence a light tight box where you add accessories to it according to the need of the shot. An Arri is just a box. You need a lens, a viewfinder and then you add the appropriated sized magazine, if you are going handheld you add a shoulder pad, if not you add a tripod plate/dove tail etc. A DSLR is pretty much that way. Very modular as a film camera is. If you add a Zacuto or Hoodman finder it's pretty much a super8 sized digital 35mm camera. Then you can add a pistol grip for portable handheld and it feels like a super8 camera. Or you can add a shoulder brace and it starts feeling like an Arri.
A video camera is a totally different animal in terms of ergonomics and is not modular at all.

In answer to your question about PL lenses on the Canons, the short answer is no, you can't really use PL lenses. At least not any useful range. Some zooms fit and extreme telephotos like 300mm. Never heard of anybody able to make a full set or wider lenses work or even a 50mm for that matter.

Yeah, I understand the theory, but I really REALLY don't wanna start shooting video projects with a DSLR, all caged up in some kind of unwieldy rig just so you can "use a wrench when you really need a screwdriver."  But if they put that sensor in a real video camera.... yeah, baby.  I want the style/shape/ergonomics of a conventional film or video camera... AND definitely a real viewfinder.  Yes my primes are PL mount.  Can any of these cameras take that, though??

>>the economics of production may be an issue

I'm guessing that means an end price-point issue.  Seems to me if they came in with a body in the $10K range they would fly off the shelves.  I know I'd grab one for sure.
