[Konvas] New Canon?

Rita,

Sound with the 7D (not D7 by the way ) is best recorded separately as a dual system. It does record sound and it's possible to use a XLR adapter like a Beachtech (the 7D does not have XLR inputs) but the quality of the sound is not good. Best is to buy a recorder like the Zoom and mount it on the top of the camera. If you would need to hire an extra sound person or not would be up to you. But if you could do it alone with a video camera you could do it alone with the 7D+Zoom. You just have one more recording button to press, that's the only difference really. Dual system never scared me. That's how it has always been done with film anyways.

T2,

If you had one of these cameras, how would you record the sound?  Does  the
D7 have the inputs to attach a phantom power and XLR mic rig. If you had to
record sound separately then that would involve hiring a soundman etc, the
costs  of which will have to passed onto the client..

What would the benefits be of having one of these cameras, say over your
existing Canon system.

I am scratching my head to establish the over savings of switching over to
a D7 perhaps you will not need a DOF attachment like your P&S rig or will
you still need one.

I am interested in your opinion as it seems what the D7 has in its tiny
brain you already have the same facilities within your post suite.

Rita
