I need to toss in a note or two on this discussion.

No 1m/7m lenses work on a 2m/8m body unless you add an oct19 adapter.

No 2m/8m lenses work on a 1m/7m body, period.

The square fronts came in at least three variations, only one of which was intended to be used on the 1m or 7m cameras. The other two variations were originally designed for the "revised" 2m and 8m-- the square back flange is the giveaway. That is for support when the lens is being mounted an aligned, and to prevent it from being installed on the Kinor because the element would contact the mirror while running.

You need to use a stout lens support with the height already adjusted BEFORE you try to mount a roundfront onto a 2m/8m body. The weight of the 75mm and longer round front can tear screws loose in the 2m front section when mounting it, the others when the camera is moved with the round front mounted. The Soviet manuals said not to use the round front on a Konvas of any model.

That was the Soviet version of idiot proofing, I guess.

Square fronts were designed to operate on a 1M/7M.

Round fronts were designed to run on a 2M/8M/Kinor.

2M/8M/Kinor lenses work on 1M/7M, but not vice versa.

It has to do with the angle of the mirror shutter, and the clearances to the same.

The lens mounts have a key which prevents 1M/7M lenses from being mounted on a 2M/8M/Kinor.
