Haskell Wexler:s fave camera requires a blimp for sound.

You can see Wexler with his blimped CM3 in the final shot of Medium  
Cool.

I believe, as with the Arri 35C:s blimp, that the synch motor is part  
of the CM3:s blimp.

Both of these systems were designed way, way before crystal control  
was available.
