A little sun is good therapy for jaundice. 
 

And and hour's worth of immersion and movement of an arm with arthritis 
in warm salt water is good for it, too, but somehow I would not recommend 
that for your camera optics.  I discussed this briefly with a military 
optics designer, and he says there are "eye apparent" coating shifts 
that really do not affect the image because of post work, but that he 
personally would not trust anyone who said anything about the sand the 
glass was made of being the reason for visible changes in the color, 
simply, he said, because there is more to glass than melting some sand.
