[Konvas] OCT-19 Canon DSLR

First, I feel obligated to say that it's still not film. But I'd
certainly like to get a 7D or GH1 to hold my set of LOMOs...

Next, take a look at AbelCineTech's pages. They even has a nice
comparison chart of the different chips and Super35 film frames:

Note: They say this about the Canon, "PL mount lenses are not
compatible, due to the flange distance of the mount and the internal
mirror used with the optical viewfinder."

and they have the PL adapter rig for the GH1:

Last month the people at Birns & Sawyer did a comparison test between
the 5D MII (Canon lenses), the GH1 (PL mounted Zeiss), and the RED.
Results are posted on Byron Shah's site:
http://www.byronshah.com/?test

He said they had several issues with the Canon lenses and FF (also
issues with the RedRockMicro gears slipping - not sure what this was due
to), as well as changing out the lenses. No problems with the GH1 or RED
  and lenses.

But, for those in the market for a cheap "HDSLR", currently I still
think it boils down to a basic comparison between the Canon 7D and the
Panasonic Lumix GH1 cameras for both price and what they have to offer.
Neither are the RED in terms of what they can do as a complete digital
cine package, but they are able to get some nice pictures when shot in
the proper ways (ie, ways that don't stress the image beyond these
cameras more limited capabilities) and both can be bought for under
$1800 (I believe you can get either of these cameras and deck them out
for under $3500 - which is not going to happen with a RED).

Also, people are already jumping from the 5D to the 7D, because, for
MoPic type work at least, the 5D's dof is too shallow to work with and
the 7D has more options (as Adam Jones stated earlier, the 7D does 30p,
25p, and 24p).

I'd love to have both the GH1 and 7D in my hands to do some comparison
tests for myself. It would also be nice to additionally grab a Nikon
300s and a Pentax K7 to see what those cameras offer as well...

Cheers,
