 And that's the reason that smooth fast motion and smooth slow cross frame motion require totally different methods of transfrer to a 24 frame film base.

It's easier and a single system to up 24 to 30 and subdivide if you need interlace, but the "un named" guys who have been fighting with video to film are looking for some new video standard that straightens things out, particularly when fields and frames may or may not wind up being the same things.

I misspoke.?

24 is obtained by FIELD dropping, from the 30 source.?
?

I worked out the details a while back, and it seemed to me that the native mode was always 30, while the derived mode could be 24, at the user's option.?
