The Pro 600 Special was, essentially, a CECo or equivalent conversion
on a Pro 600 main casting.

The magazine drive clutch, which I believe CECo pioneered, was copied
almost exactly by Bach-Auricon.

In other important details, the Pro 600 Special was a CECo in an
Auricon case, but with Auricon:s new, greatly improved, synchronous
motor.

My personal opinion is the Pro 600 Special IS the definitive ENG
camera of its era, and it had none of the defects of the Cine-Voice
conversions, of which the CECo was but one of many.

Pro 600 -- took 600 foot mags and had an induction-type torque motor
for magazine take-up. Two motors.

Pro 600 Special -- took 400 foot mags and had a clutch for magazine
take-up which was driven by a spur gear from the main drive shaft.
One motor, only.

Were I to want a professional conversion of an Auricon, for real-life
work, I would start with the Pro 600 Special, not any of the other
models.

Of course, the CP16 and CP16R are also available as alternates, and
would be a better starting point than any Auricon.
