 Uh, Adam?

Quote:? The camera is designed to offer an inexpensive studio system that
allows the use of a vast range of lenses. Many lenses designed for
DSLRs, including the Zeiss 100mm F/2 Macro, Nikkor 17-35mm ED and
14-24mm G-ED produce large enough image circles to illuminate larger
format sensors (though their performance will only have been optimized
for their native formats).

In other words, not a tele-extender in the body to enlarge the image, just use the "over coverage" to fill the frame.

A quick check of the actual resolution of the "non optimal area" will tell you this is garbage for all but the center UNLESS the resolution of the digital back is so low it would rival brown paper bags and crayons.?? A half dozen units with the enlargement or tele-extender in them have been made, they have also run into light and color shift problems in the expanded image outer areas.

Of course, the first one like that was for film.

In 1928, by the old Boston Camera Company-- two versions, one to use the Leitz/Zeiss miniature lenses on 120 or 116 rollfilm, one to use 2x3 inch (6x9cm) lenses on 4x5 or 9x12cm cut film.?

Do you think they are using achromatic glass to warp the image "up" to
medium format? For the life of me, I can not think of another way of
doing it (but then again, I'm not a scientist).?
?

I wonder if this technology will be used for upcoming larger digital
sensors that are equivalent in size to the IMAX, etc (I believe at least
RED has this in development, correct?)??
?
