Great discussion!

Re: Chevy engine in a Lambo
This analogy is perhaps more apt than you thought. Chevy motors, like
PL lenses, have more spare parts, are easier to find, (cheaper to
replace, cheaper to maintain... ?) I put the last two in brackets
because I am eyeing Zeiss glass on eBay and super-speed sets show up
all the time!!! 10-30k for 1.3, 1.4; 5-20k for standard 2.2-2.8
including Cooke.
BUT!
I have NEVER seen a single lomo oct-19 lens faster than say 2.7-ish?
Maybe 2.2, never 1.x. And those lenses are always "onsies-twosies"
NEVER a matched set! You just don't see Russian glass in sets, I don't
know why. (Maybe all the Konvas.org folks gobbled 'em up!!! :-) lol.)

But now it seems I reach an impasse! Putting the Chevy motor in the
Lambo requires changing the transmission, shift linkage, electrical
system, mounting brackets, frame... I'll have to pass on that Bull,
mind my pun. Ohoh. I seem to remember something about puns around
these parts...

Ok, so allow me to throw down the gauntlet: does anyone have a fast
set of these cheapo oct-19 lomo lenses they've been wanting to part
with? Probably not... I will keep my watchful eye on eBay though.

And all of this just to shoot cheaply in b/w!!! Aie yie yie! The Kodak
5222 kills me, I need more light and faster lenses. We're gonna burn
the place down if I throw another lamp in the lineup!

Oh, and I keep a watchful eye on Raf too. Seems the microscope
equipment deparent is booming; the camera lenses have not changed from
"sold-out" status in 2 years. No, I don't want the Rodenas (chuckles,
seems nobody else does too!). Ok it's time to scamper off and refresh
the "newly listed" link for "da-Bay-eeee"!

Thanks for the thougts everyone! Arri 35BL it is...
