Hi, I am a film maker based in new york and beijing, so i know a little bit about the industry there. There are konvas and russian gear in china, but it is in warehouses and museum, no longer used. There are Chinese copies of arri, and mitchells, also in glass cases. They have bought all new arri gear, and latest german gear, they must have had a good beer party for the chinese film studio's, and bags of euro bribes..hehehe....anyway i have an american friend who set up shot in tenjin, manufacturing lighting gear. Cool lights, western spec lighting gear. They can make anything in china now. I have seen chinese made knock off steadicams, technocranes, arri hmi's, kinoflo's etc.  They make lens back in the day, but no one uses old russian and chinese gear anymore, it's all new imported latest film gearis the norm.
