Mike-- are you thinking of shooting STILL frames with your DSLR, or using one of the HD shooting modes?
As for the question of "will it work like a true anamorphic" the answer is "if you get things fitted right" yes, if not, no. I used a Foton anamorphic front in front of a Schneider 28-65mm Arri B lens, and have used several prime sets on the Arri 2b/2c series with perfect success, and did tests for the effect with the Canon 10D for stills with a 35mm "old type" front on a 50mm and a 35mm Canon prime.
I expanded them to 2x in GraphicConverter and cropped to get rid of the extra edge.
I went to RAF and did not find a 150 dollar front anamorphic unit. What I saw was, shall we say, quite a bit more-- but he has some diopters for the anamorphic for around that price, which is a small fraction of what those close up diopters have been bringing on eBay. I suspect the buyers are not Soviet camera people, and just haven't found him. At least, that's the difference between $600 to $700 each on eBay and his price. If you need, get them now.
One point-- the original Cinemascope was an adapter front element set-- the EFFECT of cylindrical lens capture is true anamorphic, cropping and enlarging a spherical image is not.

This is a good question , if you look to the RAF CAMERA website , there is
foton anamorphic attachments for 150 dollar. Do they work for me or Mike ?
