Dan, I usually used the bigger 400' full-roll mags but when I was occasionally loading the little mags for my Konvas (the ones that will actually HOLD more than they will successfully run), I cut a cardboard circle the exact size of the maximum capacity (I used a dead roll of film to find the measurement).  In the darkroom then it was easy to measure that against the film so I would know I wasn't overloading.
