Hello everybody,

One my friend has Parvo 35mm cine camera with metallic body. He says
that it is still in working condition. Cosmetic condition is good
(not excellent). Very old man who sold this camera to him told that
with THIS camera were taken pictures of Lenin.
As I can see from McKeown's price guide, it's price is $1800-$2500.
How about $1800+shipping?
I can't send you images right now - my friend lives in St.Peterburg,
800km away from me. But if someone interested, I'll ask him to make
pictures.

From: hans at filmcentralen.com

Hi all
I just tried to power up my Konvas for the first time but it didn´t work
out so good. The motor runs and I don´t think there´s anything wrong
with it, but the controller doesn´t behave like it´s supposed to. When I
set it on 8 fps it turns one or two times before it stops and all you
can hear is a "tired engine" sound from the controller. At 16 fps it
makes the same sound but runs at 1 fps or so. When I set it on 24 fps
the same thing happens. But when I set it on 24 fps marked in red it
runs at 10-14 fps making no tired engine sound at all. I used a 7.2V
power tool battery 2,4Ah. Should I use a more powerfull battery (maybe
parallel connect two batteries) or is there something wrong with the
controller? The guy who sold me the camera told me that he had it tested
and that it was in working order.

Hello,
I live in USA and recently purchased a Konvas 1kcp-2m camera
from the Ukraine. I am in need of a couple of batteries and a charger
that will work in US. Also am interested in a PL mount conversion.
Hoping you can give me some info. The nameplates on the Motor and
Controller read 153ncc, perhaps this is 15epss in Russian. Please
advise. Hope all is well with you and your family in these times.

Thank you,

I found that some of you experinced problems with power supply for

cameras. They called SCS15. It is the most powerful batteries which
were produced for this cameras in ex-USSR. Batteries contain silver
inside. They are not HiMh. It is light and powerful. I'll ask on
customs if it possible to send this batteries through customs (because
they contain silver inside). Let me know if you are intrested. One
set of batteries will cost you approximately $185 (set include 5 units).
It is brand new batterries. They nee to be filled with water and need
to be trained (full charging and discharging process few times).

See attachment.

Please let me know.

Subject: Help! 17 EP power connector
From: Ray T
Date: Oct 10, 2001 22:08 PDT

I want to power up my Konvas 2M with a 17 EP motor, but I don't have an
original Konvas power cable.
Does anyone know the appropriate pin outs on the 17 EP connector?
Specifically which pin is positive 12v and which is ground? I would be
looking at the connector starting at upper right pin and going
clockwise.
Is it difficult to swap out the connector for a more standardized
connection (4pin xlr?) or is there a readily available female cable
connector that will interface with the original male connector on the
motor?
Thanks for any help,
Ray

Hello Ray,

I don't remember numbering of pins, but my circuit shows that pins
1&2 is GROUND, and pins 3&4 is +12V.

Is there anywhere that I can get parts diagrams, overhaul or repair shop
info for the Konvas and Kinor cameras? Most of the ones I see need at
least a CLA, and some of them need major work-- a shop manual would help
me determine which ones are which, and how severe the problem might be.

You can say it is Gift/Sample/not working one/used,untested, as is.
But it must be wroted in customs papers. Seller must write papers right.

The best way - you need to ask seller to ship it disassembled in
different parcels. For example I usually shipping high cost equipment
disassembled in the way it is unusable separately. I mean - for
example camera body without nothing (no lens, motors, batteries, etc)
in first parcel and all other accessories in second parcel with few
days delay between parcels. In this way you can proof on customs it is
not working equipment, service for your existing camera, etc. In this
case I can wrote any value in customs papers, even under $100 USD.
Nobody can proof it working and nobody can find right price for it on
customs in your country. And it really looks like something unusable
for customs agents. All will believe it cost under 100USD if it is only
unknown camera body or simply chargers, cables, lenses, etc, but
without camera itself. Of course it is bad to do it. But if buyer ask
me - I do it.

From: Vasily Fursov
Date: Oct 22, 2001 13:00 PDT

Hello ,

A lot of people ask me - did you check your camera with kodak film
stock? Is it very different from Russian film stock?
What the problem is? Perforation?

One man said me that early Konvas cameras are not compatible, but
late Konvases are compatible with Kodak film stock.

Main question: if so, can I check camera running Kodak 35mm photo film
through it? Does 35mm photo film the same as movie 35mm film from one
brand? What about Orwo?

What other film brands usually used?

Thank you for information.

Some time back, Sam Wylie posted that Ek Satchler (Midridge Imaging) was US
distributor for ORWO. I tried sending an email to Ek but never heard back.
Has anyone heard anymore about ORWO? Do they cut a 16mm stock?

Unrelated question: With new measures being considered for mail handling,
due to the recent terrorism, how might this impact film shipments?

Vasily,

The concern here is that The USSR/Russia adopted Kodak Standard Perforations (KS) in 1939 for ALL production elements, while the rest of the World pretty much stayed with B&H perforations for original negative materials and KS perforations for intermediate and release prints.

A camera setup to run KS perforated negative stock may have trouble transporting B&H perforation materials depending upon how strict the tolerances are within the camera. We (Patrick Steele and I) have found that the Konvas cameras are not as picky as the higher-end cameras such as the Kinor. My Konvas 2M seems happy running either perforation! I have heard that the Kinor movement stroke MUST be reset for the pitch difference and registration pin diameter difference, but Pat's Kinor doesn't seem to need this adjustment; but I don't know if the modification was already done before he got the camera.

To answer your question; no, regular Eastman Kodak still 35mm film is perforated with KS perfs, so that would not tell you anything. If you can locate a bit of Bell & Howell perforated stock, then that would tell you something.

The B&H perforations are more barrel shaped than the squarish KS perforations and are not as tall.

Hope this helps.

Frank
